The AFL Centenary Cover below
shows the West Coast Eagles Peel and Stick Stamps with the West Coast Eagles
Commemorative Postmark (PM 1997) which was introduced on the 23rd April 1996.
This Postmark was announced in The Australian Stamp Bulletin No 227 Oct - Dec
1994 along with a cover produced by Australia Post WA Administration featuring
the Eagles inclusion in the 1994 Grand Final. It was apparently not issued due
to time constraints.The Eagles chose
Glen Jakovich, as their player on the
Maximum Card, Post Card and Stamp Booklet.
The 25th May 2000 marked the release of club and individual
2000
Personalised Stamps.
On the 28th March 2001 the second annual meeting of the "Premiership
Players Club" was held at the MCG to help raise funds for charity. One West
Coast eagle player was included in the 20 players pictured on the A4 sheet of 20
P stamps of the globe and map issue. He was
John Worsfold. The stamps were
also displayed on a set of 20 first day covers by Havilah Enterprises.
The 2001 season was disastrous for the WA sides with
both finishing in the lower 25% of the teams and the Eagles finishing 14th. The
30th March saw the release of the
2001 Personalised Stamps.
2002 started on a bright note with the Eagles winning
all their home games. On the 15th May 2002 the clubs
2002
Personalised Stamps were released.
On the 29th March 2003 the West Coast Eagles Centre Half Back,
Glen Jakovich, played his 250th game.
First Class Collectibles released a
cover
to commemorate the event.
The
2003 Personalised Stamps were
released on 22nd April 2003. On the 7 July 2003
at the Regent Theatre Ballroom Western Australia's
John Todd
was inducted into the AFL Hall Of Fame. Two players,
Michael Gardiner
and
Phillip Matera,
made the All Australian Team.
2003 was a mixed season with the Eagles making the eight but bowing out in
the first week.
In mid April the
2004
Personalised Stamps were released. This year they were a booklet
of 20 stamps showing 10 players, rather than the A4 sheet.
Glen Jakovich
was
included in the 20 players of the "Premiership Players
Club".
Chris Judd
and
Chad Fletcher
made the All Australian Team.
On 20th
September 2004
Chris Judd, of the West Coast
Eagles, won his first Brownlow Medal.
Australia Post issued a Souvenir Stamp Sheet on the
27th September 2004.
Commemorative Covers to
commemorate the Eagles first Brownlow were
released by
First Class Collectables
and
StampsOz.
On the 1st April 2005 the West Coast
Eagles booklet of the
2005
Personalised Stamps was released. On 16th July 2005 Ben
Cousins played his 200th game for the West Coast Eagles.
A Commemorative Covers showing
Cousins
was
released by First Class Collectables. The Indigenous Team Of
the Century was named at a lavish function at the Palladium on the 1st August 2005.
First Class Collectables produced a set of covers. Signed player covers
included
Peter Matera
First Class Collectables issued covers to commemorate the Best and Fairest
winners including
Ben Cousins. On 19th September 2005 Ben
Cousins won the Brownlow Medal for the second consecutive year for the West Coast Eagles.Two Commemorative Covers showing Cousins with the

and as a
Player
were
released by First Class Collectables. Coversplease also released a
Cover.
The Eagles were on
top of the ladder for most of the year loosing the top to Adelaide in the last
game of the year. After two home final wins the made the
2005 Grand Final
against Sydney.
On the 20th
March 2006 the Eagles
booklet of the
2006 Personalised Stamps was
released. Rivalry Round was played on the 6th May 2006.
Onlycovers released covers of the
Western Derby
and Ross Glendinning Medal Winner,
Chris Judd. A further cover was released on the21st May 2006 for Chris Judd's
100 Games for the Eagles. Onlycovers released a Captains series
with covers including Chris Judd.
On the 22nd June 2006
Peter Matera
was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame. Round 16 was the
Heritage Round with clubs wearing jumpers from a previous era.
Onlycovers released a cover for
each club including the
West Coast Eagles FC
The Eagles made their second consecutive Grand Final against Sydney
but this time turned the tables with them winning the
2006 Premiership.
After the 2006 Premiership the Eagles finished third in 2007
with Australia Post issuing the
2007 Personalised Stamps.
2008 and 2009 were rebuilding years with them finishing in the bottom half
of the ladder. Australia Post changed from the Prestige Booklet to the Folder
format issuing the
2008 Personalised Stamps
and
2009 Personalised Stamps.
